Chupacabras Visit Texoma for First Road Test

Fresh off a historic opening-night victory, McKinney Chupacabras will look to carry their momentum into their first road test of the season Tuesday night against Texoma FC.

McKinney defeated rival Denton Diablos 2-1 on May 16, marking the club’s first-ever win over the Diablos and the first victory of the Frank Yallop era.

Standing in the way of a 2-0 start is a Texoma side coming off the most dominant performance in the Ranger Division so far this season.

Texoma, which competed in USL League One last season, opened its 2026 campaign with a 7-0 win over Fort Worth Vaqueros FC on May 19.

The Denison club led 3-0 at halftime and continued to pile on the pressure after the break. Donald Benanma opened the scoring in the 15th minute before captain AJ Francois doubled the advantage in the 42nd. Man of the Match Cooper Tea added a third just one minute later, while also recording an assist.

Harris Dunic struck early in the second half, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute. Substitute Brady Jacobs then recorded a brace with goals in the 77th and 82nd minutes, before Damian Iamarino capped off the scoring in the 85th.

For McKinney, forwards Keane Cobuzio and Tucker Eason will look to build on strong debuts after accounting for both goals in the season-opening win over Denton.

The Chupacabras are also set to receive a boost with the return of last year’s leading scorer Milton Lopez from suspension.

Texoma will play in front of its home fans for the first time this season under first-year head coach Ben Clarvis, who has been part of the club’s staff since 2024.

McKinney has had more than a week to prepare for the matchup, but Yallop’s side faces a difficult challenge against one of the division’s early standouts.

Texoma hosts McKinney at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Munson Stadium in Denison.
