Chupacabras Pick Up First Road Win Against Texoma

McKinney Chupacabras FC secured their second comeback victory of the season Tuesday night, defeating Texoma FC 2-1 on the road in the opening match of the three-game US 75 Showdown series.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime for the second straight match, McKinney rallied with two second-half goals. Forward Milton Lopez and wingback Ty Reynolds both found the back of the net to keep the Chupacabras undefeated through their first two games of the 2026 season.

Goalkeeper Nathan Kinser played a key role in the result, recording several critical saves, including a diving stop in the fourth minute of stoppage time to seal the win.

Texoma used its home-field advantage to test Kinser early, but McKinney’s defense rose to the occasion. In his first start, defender Ben Mulrooney denied the home side’s first real scoring chance in the eighth minute. Mulrooney’s block forced a corner kick, which Kinser cleared away.

The hosts created more opportunities in the first half of a physical contest, with Kinser making multiple saves to keep the match scoreless through the opening 29 minutes.

Texoma finally broke through in the 30th minute when captain AJ Francois delivered a well-placed strike into the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Both sides were booked in the first half, though neither caution led to a dangerous set-piece opportunity. McKinney added another yellow card in the second half, bringing its season total to six.

In first-half stoppage time, Kinser made another strong save to keep the deficit at one. Moments later, Texoma goalkeeper Jacob Morris answered with a stop of his own, denying forward Brayden Beason’s chance inside the box and preserving Texoma’s 1-0 lead heading into the break.

McKinney increased the pressure early in the second half, creating multiple chances in the opening minutes. Midfielder Sam Jones had a quality look in the 53rd minute before Lopez scored the equalizer in his season debut two minutes later.

The Chupacabras completed the comeback in the 62nd minute when Reynolds scored the eventual game-winning goal, his first of the season. Beason set up the finish for his first assist of the campaign.

Kinser continued his standout performance with another key stop in the 66th minute before producing one of his best saves of the night in the 78th minute, denying Texoma’s Damian Iamarino from inside the box.

McKinney nearly added an insurance goal in the 81st minute when Beason sent a chip shot just wide on a one-on-one breakaway opportunity.

The Chupacabras now face a short turnaround before returning to Ron Poe Stadium to host Fort Worth Vaqueros FC at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
