McKinney Heads to Midland Seeking Fifth Straight Win
The McKinney Chupacabras will look to stay hot Saturday night as they head nearly six hours west to face West Texas FC.
The match marks the second game of a demanding stretch for McKinney, which is set to play six matches in 14 days. Despite the busy schedule, the Chupacabras remain unbeaten at 4-0-0 and sit atop the Ranger Division standings after opening the season with four consecutive one-goal victories.
West Texas enters the matchup at 1-1-1 after picking up its first Ranger Division win of the season on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over second-place Texoma FC. The club also earned a 3-3 draw against Lubbock Matadors on May 30, scoring a late equalizer in stoppage time.
McKinney comes into Saturday’s contest riding a two-match clean sheet streak after back-to-back 1-0 victories over Fort Worth Vaqueros FC and Lubbock. Forward Brayden Beason scored the lone goal in both matches and has emerged as one of the club’s primary attacking threats.
The Chupacabras will look to continue their strong defensive form against a West Texas side that has scored in each of its three matches this season. Goalkeeper Nathan Kinser and McKinney’s back line have allowed just two goals through four matches.
One player McKinney will need to contain is Diego Robles. Robles scored both goals in West Texas’ win over Texoma and has netted three of the club’s five goals this season.
Saturday’s contest will be the first meeting between the two sides this season.
McKinney and West Texas are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.
