Ranger Division Title on the Line as McKinney Hosts Texoma

After nearly two months of regular-season play, the Ranger Division title will be decided in the final match.

McKinney Chupacabras FC hosts Texoma FC on Saturday night at Ron Poe Stadium, with the division championship and a place in the USL League Two playoffs at stake. McKinney must win to claim the title, while Texoma needs only a draw.

Texoma enters the finale atop the standings with an 8–3–0 record and 24 points following Tuesday’s 3–2 home victory over Denton Diablos FC. The result eliminated Denton from contention and established a final-day showdown between the division’s top two clubs.

McKinney sits one point behind at 7–2–2 with 23 points. Texoma owns a division-best plus-15 goal difference, while the Chupacabras enter at plus-nine.

The Chupacabras will also be looking to respond after suffering their first home defeat of the season—a 2–0 loss to Texoma on July 4. The result ended McKinney’s perfect home record and marked the first time the club had been held scoreless this season.

Texoma enters Saturday riding a four-match winning streak, while McKinney has recorded one win, one draw, and two defeats over its last four matches.

Containing Parker Plaxco will be one of McKinney’s primary challenges.

The Midwestern State standout has scored four goals across his last two appearances, recording braces against both McKinney and Denton. His performance on Tuesday moved him into the Ranger Division lead with nine goals this season. The Stephenville native has now scored in three of his last four matches.

Plaxco is no stranger to winning. He helped lead Midwestern State to the 2025 NCAA Division II national championship, finishing the season with a team-high 13 goals and 31 points. The Mustangs went 19–3–3 and defeated Rollins 2–0 in the national championship match.

Saturday will mark the third meeting between McKinney and Texoma this season. The clubs split the opening two matches, with each side winning away from home.

McKinney will now attempt to break that trend and secure the victory required to bring the Ranger Division title to McKinney.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Ron Poe Stadium.
