Chupacabras earn first-ever home victory on Ted Lasso Night
The McKinney Chupacabras made history on Saturday night, defeating Red River FC 2–0 to secure their first home win at Ron Poe Stadium.
With high temperatures slowing the pace early, the match began cautiously on both sides. After the first-half hydration break, the Chupacabras found their rhythm. In the 39th minute, Brayden Beason struck to put McKinney ahead, igniting both the team and the crowd heading into halftime on Ted Lasso Night.
In the 61st minute, Milton Lopez delivered a highlight-reel moment, curling in a free kick from 25 yards out to double the Chupacabras’ lead.
Discipline remained fairly even throughout the match. Jack Monte, Alpha Diouf and Red River’s Callum Lee each received yellow cards in the first half. In the 88th minute, Osi Iyamah was shown a red card, forcing McKinney to play the final minutes a man down. Even so, the Chupacabras remained composed to close out the clean sheet.
The win marked a major milestone for the club, as fans packed “The Poe” to celebrate their first home victory in team history—a night full of energy, smiles, and belief in what’s to come.
